Since 2016, Kazakhstan has had a new holiday, the Day of Gratitude, established by Presidential Decree No. 173 of 14 January 2016. The same document approved the date of its official annual celebration – March 1.
The First President of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Nazarbayev took the initiative to establish this Day. In his speech at the 22nd session of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan (ANC) in April 2015, as part of the celebration of its 20th anniversary, he offered to celebrate the Day of Gratitude in the Republic. And the day of creation of the ANC – March 1 – to choose as the date of the holiday when “the peoples of the country can thank each other and Kazakhs for tolerance and hospitality in the years when many peoples were deported to the country.”
On February 27, 2020, Fedorov Agricultural College held a round table dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and the Day of Gratitude.
The purpose of the event is to expand the general cultural political outlook, as well as to help students understand why there was a historical need to unite all peoples living in Kazakhstan as parts of a single whole.
The work of the round table with the opening speech was opened by the librarian of Kulmukhambetova College A.A., representatives of Kazakh, Ukrainian culture spoke, the film Friendship of the Peoples of Kazakhstan was shown.
The representative of Kazakh culture Kuishinov D.S. noted that Kazakhstanis live in a democratic state in peace and harmony. Kazakhstan is a unique, multinational republic, where each ethnic group has received conditions for the preservation and development of its cultural traditions and language.
Shirokov V.V. spoke from the Ukrainian diaspora, telling that the first Ukrainians on Kazakh soil are considered expelled to Kazakhstan participants of the suppressed Gaidamak movement in 1768. Currently, 26% of Ukrainians live in Fedorov district. Vitalina Vasilievna spoke words of gratitude to the Kazakh land and the Kazakh people for the warm and friendly reception at a difficult time for many peoples.
During the event all once again made sure that we, the people of Kazakhstan, are united, and in this our strength and success! The future prosperity of our State requires stability within the State, friendship and harmony among the peoples that inhabit it.
